3 weeks from now I'll be on a plane to Washington DC! That seems so crazy especially since I'm still thinking "eh, I've got time for that..." No, Emily. No, you do not!
This was my first week of unemployment and it was quite possibly the best thing ever. I've slept better than I have in 2 years, am eating better and feel like a new person! Its kind of amazing what a regular sleep schedule and reduced stress can do. I started the week off by getting my plane tickets! I'll be leaving DFW at 11:50 and land in Washington DC at 3:40 on May 19. Staging doesn't start till May 21st but since I've never been to DC, I wanted to give myself some time to see the sights. I also booked my hotel, which is just under 2 miles from the White House! I'm hoping to see the Kelly family while I am there and there are several volunteers coming in early as well to do sightseeing and we're all planning on getting together for drinks the night of the 20th. We've all been getting to know each other online and they seem like fantastic people.
I also sold my car this week and what an experience that was. I bought "smartie pants" at Carmax back in 2011 and was hoping that since I had my financing and everything through them that selling it back would be a piece of cake. Oh how wrong I was... First they appraised my car at $2,500 less than I owe, then I had to find the $2,500 to pay them back which is not easy. Coordinating schedules to get out there and back, finding all the paperwork that was already packed away and paying so many additional fees followed and all the other hassles just made the entire thing one big headache. Instead of being excited that the biggest thing on my To-Do-List is done, I'm considering never buying a car ever again!
On Saturday, Scott drove me to Sam's Club where I stocked up on soap, shampoo, razors and tampons among other things. As if buying 2 years worth of tampons wasn't awkward enough, I knew my cashier!
In 5 days my parents arrive to spend the weekend in Dallas and take all my things back to Wisconsin to store. So this means 5 days left with Stella too, which is quickly becoming hard to swallow. Until then, I'll be tackling the rest of my packing and smaller to-do-list things like "buy watch battery." Sounds thrilling!
